The New York Yankees will be partnering with Manchester City to buy MLS' New York City Football Club team. The Associated Press reports, New York FC will be MLS' 20th team when it debuts in 2015.

The Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi will be the majority owner of the club and Yankees president Randy Levine will be in charge of launching the new team.

A stadium for New York FC has not yet been determined, but Flushing Meadows Corona Park is a possibility. In the meantime, the team will play in an interim venue, and according to Levine, Yankees Stadium is one possible option.

New York FC is expected to spark a rivalry with the New York Red Bulls soccer team, which is located in Harrison, NJ. There also reportedly is a chance that the team could serve as a farm team for the Premiere League's Manchester City.
