DMX's camp is breaking its silence on the rapper's recent arrest.

A message on the rapper's Twitter account defends his Monday night arrest for driving on a suspended license.

Apparently, DMX - born Earl Simmons - was running late for a flight to New York City to appear on "The Wendy Williams Show," when he "took a chance" and hopped behind the wheel of a car.  The message adds that DMX was "doing the right thing in the wrong way."

The rapper was scheduled to appear on Tuesday's episode of "The Wendy Williams Show," but that appearance had to scrapped.

However, his publicist says that DMX and Swizz Beatz will be performing on today's episode of the talk show.
