"Mind the company you keep" - Mom
"Practice as if you are the worst, perform as if you are the best."
As a popular New York radio personality, writer and producer, Kim Kane represents the fresh face of new media. Departing from her home state of Alaska in 2002, relentless work and natural talent quickly established her as one of the most visible young media personalities in the country. As a multi-talent, she has successfully remained in-demand on all media platforms including print, radio and television. Kim has held exclusive interviews with hit-makers and legends to include Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, The Killers, Lenny Kravitz, Public Enemy, Patti LaBelle, 50 Cent and Yoko Ono.

Kane came to NYC after working in radio & television in Alaska, where she attended the University Of Alaska, Fairbanks (Broadcast Journalism, English) followed by an internship at KTUU, Channel 2. One of the pioneering DJs at Alaska's very first hip-hop station - KFAT 92.9 in Anchorage - Kane helped propel KFAT into the number-1 spot during her tenure as morning co-host and mid-day host. It was here she wet her chops for production and was soon writing and producing content for her company’s top-billing clients. Kane's work earned her praise and recognition via an article featured in XXL magazine (May 2001). The piece -- a feature on hip-hop reaching all depths of the world -- highlighted Kane's popularity and celebrity in her home state, as well as her undisputed knack for connecting with listeners. She soon accepted a position at 103.9 The Beat in Philadelphia, catapulting her from market 172 to market 6. There she co-hosted the morning drive; KJ and Kane in the Morning. Her work in Philadelphia - and Alaska - had more than prepared her when MTV Networks came calling.

Kane took the position of On-Air Talent, Writer and Producer with MTV Radio in 2003. As the host of MTV Jams, MTV2 Sucker Free Radio, MTV Radio Live and the writer/producer for MTV News Presents, MTV's Guest List and the TRL Weekend Countdown (all nationally syndicated in over 200 markets), her plate's been indeed full. The native Alaskan has been featured on various Viacom television outlets including VH1, MTV News, and Lifetime Television for Women. Kim had the pleasure of serving as MTV Radio's New York correspondent for key events like The MTV Video Music Awards and TRL's New Year's Eve bash, which broadcasts across the country from Times Square.

Kim Kane mentors young men and women across the U.S. while supporting her platform of AIDS / HIV / STD research and awareness. She is a popular voice over talent in the U.S., and is a member of AFTRA, NABFEME, New York Women in Communications and more. As of January 1, 2007, she remains with MTV Networks on a freelance basis. She has continued her education at NYU (Digital Media) and is happily holding down the 10AM-2PM weekend spot on Power 105.1 FM in New York. She also serves as one of six nation-wide correspondents for House Smarts (4.4 NBC digital New York). Learn more @ WWW.KIMKANE.COM.

  • About Me: Well after my runway modeling and interpretive dance career fell through in '99 ... I left my home of Alaska in 2002 to follow my dreams and here I am, through GOD'S grace. It's been hard work, some lonely times, lots of sacrafice - but an amazing ride. I'm truly thankful. Actually, I feel like I won the lottery. I'll write a book one day so please buy it!! It's an honor to do radio at Power 105.1 in NYC with the best talent in the country. I have had excellent personal & professional guidance along the way.

Likes: Travel, dance parties, a skillful DJ, good friends, laughter, stimulating conversation with people who have something to say, snow, books, Broadway shows, Central Park, dinner parties, good food, and of course - "I can't live w/out my radio". I am a music fanatic & spend a large amount of time listening to music, live or otherwise.

TV: I have little interest in TV.

Side Note - Dear young people: KEEP GOING. Never give up, never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do. Keep Going. No matter where you live, no matter your skin color, no matter your obstacles. GO GO GO! No person, company or employer can control or define you. You are the creator of your destiny and you are responsible for designing your life. Trust yourself, keep good people around you and treat others as you would want to be treated.  Thank you for all your emails and support, it means much more than I can say. I have lived my dreams in New York City! I don't take it for granted.
